Ryan Taylor

Co-Owner — the personality behind the business

I'm co-owner of TLRD Guarding Group. Whilst Matt manages things behind the scenes, I'm on the ground building relationships with new clients and keeping our relationship strong with existing ones.

If you have an office query or a technical issue, Matt's your guy. If you want to chat about the weekend's sports or anything operational, that'll be me.

I previously served in the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and have spent the last 9 years working in different security roles. TLRD was about us doing things differently being independent, having a close relationship with our clients, and being there for the guys who put the hours in to make our business successful. We're loyal, honest and genuine, and every decision is made directly by us without jumping through hoops.

AWAY FROM WORK

I play football semi-professionally and spend as much time as possible with my wife and three children usually stood on a rugby field or an ice rink watching them play.

Matthew James

Co-Owner — the brains behind the operation

I'm co-owner of TLRD Guarding Group, and definitely the introvert of the partnership. I'm usually the one working quietly behind the scenes, making sure everything runs properly and nothing gets missed.

If you're after a 40-minute phone call about football, darts or pretty much any sport, Ryan's your man. If you need someone quietly making sure the operation is organised, covered and running as it should that's probably where you'll find me.

I'm ex-forces and have spent more than 10 years working within security operations, including five years running our own companies. That experience has shaped how I believe security should be delivered and the standards we expect from everyone representing TLRD. For me, TLRD has always been about more than simply supplying security staff we're an independent, family-driven business built around reliability, honesty and genuine long-term relationships.

AWAY FROM WORK

I have a serious passion for competitive classic bodybuilding and anything involving old-school American cars and I spend a suspicious amount of time trying to justify another trip to Greece with my fiancée and our two young children.

That means faster answers, fewer excuses, and a team who genuinely care whether your event, site or venue goes well.
